There is a piece of Italy in the Light-1 mission to monitor the TGFs, the Terrestrial Gamma Ray Flashes, intense natural emissions of very high energy gamma rays produced during storms and thunderstorms, which can put the health of passengers on flights at risk. line, as well as pose a problem for aircraft electronic systems. Light-1, a CubeSat dedicated to the study of gamma radiation of atmospheric origin. The Light-1 payload is an instrument capable of detecting gamma rays with a temporal resolution of the order of hundreds of billionths of a second. The construction of the payload took place in the Age Scientific laboratories in full lockdown.

This telescope was funded within the PON-PACK project (Appulo-Campano enhancement of KM3NeT)

The PACK project includes a coordinated action plan for the enhancement and extension of the KM3NeT research infrastructure.
Following this enhancement action, KM3NeT will propose itself as an international reference node for neutrino astronomy and environmental research in the Mediterranean, while the three sites involved in the intervention, in Bari, Caserta and Naples, working synergistically, will form a network of excellence capable of facing all the phases for the design and implementation of advanced solutions for research with instrumentation in deep sea waters.

Measurements made on the new audio buffer for small signals HPB (High Performance Buffer). The measurement system struggles to measure distortion. At its maximum resolution, using an FFT at 32768 points, after having suppressed the fundamental, it is almost impossible to distinguish which is the distortion of the generator (0.000022%) and which is introduced by the Buffer (0.000024%). Configuration without global feedback with offset recovery.

Characteristics measured:

• Frequency response> 200 kHz
• THD @ 1 Vrms 1 kHz, 600 Ohm = 0.000024% (-132 dB)
• A-weighted output noise <700 nVrms
• output offset <5 mV
• Maximum power supply + -22 V
• Maximum input acceptance @ + -20 V = 12 Vrms
• Signal to noise ratio ref 1 Vrms, A-weighted = 123 dB
• Dynamic range = 144.7 dB

First measures on the new integrated. 40 Watts in class A and distortion with two zeros after the decimal point up to 20 Watts but ... without global feedback.
